I have one of the old school Playstation's, which don't have the largest hard drives in them. Mine has 40G, in fact. While I need at least 9G free to download two of the three games offered, I find myself constantly struggling for space anyway, what with the more frequent need to install games these days.
I do have several options though, each one with its' own challenges.
The easiest option would be to just delete enough space for the new games, but this is only a temporary solution, and doesn't help me at all long term.
Another option would be to switch the existing hard drive with a larger one, thus setting me up for the next few years as well. This is a trickery option though, as I don't really have the money for a new HDD right now. I do have one lying around somewhere though, and it is definitely larger than 40G.
The problem with this solution, is that switching the drives will wipe all my save games. Something which I can't stand to do.
However... At the moment, Sony is offering me 30 days free use of the Playstation Plus membership, which happens to have a feature that allows backing up save games online. This may very well save me in this situation. If I back up all my saves online, switch the drives, sign in and download all my saves, I'm sorted, right?
I would be. But all this is so far based on hypotheses, so I'm not sure how I should approach this. Hell, from here I don't even know if the drive I have is compatible with PS3.
That's because "from here" translates to "I'm currently sitting in the pub, considering all this."
Any input is welcome..
Peace out.
